Penelope (Penny) Standley:  

I graduated early, in January 1974. was working 3 jobs and went to the U of A for one year. Decided that was too hard -- and began working for Wire Communications on the pipeline. After the pipeline went from construction to maintenance, I left WireComm and went to work for Justice Andrew J. Kleinfeld, a lawyer then in the News Miner building. I was married for 7 years and lived out off Badger Road. I left Fairbanks after I divorced and began working for a law firm in Anchorage. Changed jobs a couple of times and wrote men off for a couple of years. Met 2d husband at a party, he asked me to marry him 10 days after we met; got married 30 days later. Married for 26 years. Recently divorced and relocated to Estill Springs, TN not far from Chattanooga (Choo-Choo town). My mother died the year after we married. I moved to Maui, Hawaii and lived there for a year while 2d husband looked for work up in Alaska and in the Lower 48. He finally got a job in San Diego and never did come to Maui. I remained in Maui for almost a year; finally moved to San Diego and we lived in Coronado. I was only there for two months, looking for work when 2d husband laid off from job; drove to Georgia with $550 in our pocket. Left my car, a 1972 MG Midget I had purchased in Maui in Cromwell, OK when the head blew. Arrived in Georgia in January 1987; went to work for one law firm and lasted from Jan. to April. Went tofor only about three months; then began working for the law firm of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP ("SGR") in May 1987 as a litigation paralegal. When I left SGR, some 21 years later, in March 2008, I was the paralegal manager and litigation paralegal for the firm (a dual position) that now had three offices, working on a fourth.
